Yellow cross done, edges matched to their centers — the cube is four corners from solved. This step drags each corner into its correct slot; making yellow face up is Step 7’s job. Keep white on the bottom, yellow on top.
What “positioned” means
A corner is positioned when its three sticker colors match the three faces it touches. The corner sitting between the red and green faces must be the yellow-red-green piece — in any twist. Red or green on top still counts: right place, wrong rotation, and rotation waits until Step 7.
Check all four top corners this way. The edges are already aligned, so every side face shows its true color and you can read each slot straight off the centers.
Niklas
One algorithm handles everything:
R U' L' U R' U' LNiklas holds the front-left corner in its seat and cycles the other three: front-right → back-right → back-left → front-right. The bottom two layers come back untouched.
The routine
- Find a positioned corner and turn the whole cube until it sits at the front-left of the top layer.
- Apply Niklas, then square the top with
Uso the edges match again. - Look again. All four positioned → Step 7. Otherwise the front-left corner is still home — apply Niklas once more. A second pass sends the three corners around the other way, so two passes always finish it.
No positioned corner anywhere? Apply Niklas from any angle and re-square
with U. Exactly one corner is now positioned — hold it front-left and
carry on.
You are done when every corner’s three colors match its three faces. The top still looks scrambled — most corners won’t show yellow upward yet. That’s expected: Step 7 twists them in place without moving them.
